NORTHERN HOGSUCKER
Hypentelium nigricans
Hypentelium nigricans
The Northern hogsucker is a member of the Sucker
family (Catostomidae). Considered to be an aggressive feeder, this species has been known to overturn stones and gravel in search of food. Because of its highly camouflaged coloration, large schools of this species often go unnoticed by the casual observer. The map below shows presence (green circles) of this species in the 1995-2019 MBSS dataset. |
